NEW FOREST LAVENDER

RESULTS OF PHOTO COMPETITION

Firstly, our apologies that it has taken so long to obtain and reach a final decision, but we are now pleased to announce the winner of our first photographic competition at the Lavender Farm.  Thank you to everyone who entered and a huge thank you to the three judges for their willingness and time spent in studying the diverse and exciting range of photographs entered in all three categories. This was a difficult task, making a decision individually, without conferring, based on the criteria set.

The winners from each category are:

1)  Member of photographic club - is entry number 46 titled "Baby Robin on a Sign" - entered by Paul Leighton

2) Children aged 13 to 17 - is entry number 28 titled "Poppies in Lavender" entered by Isabel Mitchell.

3) Young people aged from 18-25 - no entries.

4) Adults - entry number 109 titled "Poppies in Lavender Diagonal" entered by Gordon Pardy.

The overall winning photograph was candidate No 46 "The baby robin on a sign" entered by Paul Leighton - so congratulations to you. We hope that you will enjoy your weekend stay in Lavender Lea Holiday Cabin.

This free to enter photo competition was brought about due to the high demands from photographers to come along and take photos of the lavender out of our normal opening hours.  We hadn't quite realised the difficulties in managing such a venture, especially during the height of our busiest season.  We also hadn't quite taken on board the competitive nature of the event.  We had taken the view that we should ask independent judges, who have experience on photography so this meant forwarding all entries to each of them for them to peruse.

The judges were Richard Loader from Fordingbridge, who is a professional photographer specialising in plants and garden photos and gives advise on how to take photos and web design.

Dianna Jazwinski from Poole, also a professional, specialising in garden and plant photography and is a member of Professional Garden Photographers Association. She also has her photos published in Country Living Magazine.

Sophie Lumley a local student in her final year at Bournemouth University of Arts who is studying for a B A in commercial photography.

The range of entries will be placed on our website in due course for viewing.
